The Test Leak

The leak test requires a high degree of accuracy and reproducibility, which is why leak testers must be tested regularly. To carry out this quality assurance cost-effectively, on-site testing of the devices is essential. With test leaks from HeMaTech, cyclic testing of the devices becomes a breeze. Our test leaks can be set up in no time at all alongside a test specimen, offer a variety of connection options as standard, and feature very high accuracy. In addition, the robust, stainless-steel housing and the filter installed at the inlet to protect against contamination ensure our product’s long service life.

In addition to the inspection, we offer our leak calibrator as a portable handheld device, allowing you to perform tests directly on your leak test system and verify the operational reliability of the leak tester . This allows you to implement quality assurance for leak testing quickly and cost-effectively.

How a test leak works

Test leaks, also referred to as calibration leaks or reference leaks, are used to verify the functionality and measurement accuracy of leak testing devices. To do this, test leaks are used at regular intervals between individual tests, together with a tight master part. Such a test can be performed at any time—during tool or shift changes, in the event of anomalies, or at fixed, defined time intervals.

The test leaks themselves simulate a specified leak; to do so, they allow a precisely defined flow rate at a specific pressure. On the one hand, they are used to verify leak testers or complete leak testing systems.
On the other hand, they serve as calibration standards for determining test parameters.
The test leak is thus comparable in function to a gauge block in length measurement technology.

If the value measured by the leak testing device deviates from the permissible leakage of the test leak, the accuracy of the device can no longer be guaranteed for subsequent operations.

In practice, the test leak, in combination with a leak calibrator, provides simple and user-friendly quality checks for devices that can be easily implemented across many different industries.

Application of the test leak

The test leak is connected to the leak testing device in parallel with a test part known to be tight. This can be done very easily via the front-side leak simulation port on HeMaTech testing devices (optional). A defined leakage is simulated, which the testing system must detect. This allows the functionality of a leak testing setup to be checked quickly and at any time.

Traceability of the test leak

The traceability of our test leak to national and international standards is guaranteed.
The test leak is supplied with a factory certificate. DAkkS certification is also available upon request.
The test leak can be regularly inspected, calibrated, and certified in accordance with the requirements of a quality management system.
